It is an honor to have one of my Fractured Quilts selected by the Old Town Development Board and the Shenandoah Arts Council for the 2016 Artscape Banner Project in Old Town Winchester, VA. A banner showing a picture of this quilted piece will grace Old Town Winchester’s Walking Mall from April 2016 through Spring 2017.
What an honor… what fun!!! The Museum of the Shenandoah hosted a lovely reception for the Shenandoah Arts Council’s 2016 Artscape Originals on April 17th kicking off their Exhibit running from April 19th through July 17th, 2016. It was fascinating to see all the works the jury selected for banners this year! The originals spanned the spectrum from oils, water colors, acrylics, mixed mediums, photography, a lovely metal sculpture and my quilt which hung with other floral Art in the Hall pieces.
It was a gorgeous evening, so after the reception I went to Old Town Winchester to see where the 2016 Artscape Banner featuring my Fractured Floral #3 Quilt was hanging. Wouldn’t you know I parked near the center of Old Town and walked first in the “wrong” direction, such that I was able to stroll and thoroughly enjoy all the banners before finding mine near the North end of the Old Town Walking Mall.
It was overwhelming to see the fruits of my labors hanging high there for all to see… and to know it will hang there throughout the coming year!
